Indigenous Lands in Indigenous Hands

To Billyrene Pinola, the northern California coast isn't just
land; it's family. "If you don't know your cultural
history, your language, your land, you lose your identity," she
says. She's referring to 688 acres of coastal prairie and
redwood forest that TPL helped return to her tribe, the Kashia Band of
Pomo Indians, in 2015-a triumph to celebrate well beyond
Indigenous Peoples' Day.

Sign Now: Preserve Plum Island
[link removed]
Plum Island's lush meadows, lapping ocean waves, and largely
undisturbed open space make it the perfect place for
wildlife-and developers. The island, which is situated about 100
miles outside of New York City, is at risk of being sold to the
highest bidder. Will you help preserve this pristine island by sending
a message to President Biden today?

Every day we lose 6,000 acres of open space to development, and
millions more are threatened by drilling, mining, and other
exploitation that could lead to the loss of 23 million acres of forest
by 2050-that's enough trees to cover the state of Indiana.
Your gift will help us protect vital public lands and ensure access to
the outdoors for generations to come.
