With the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Michigan was facing the risk of reverting to a near-total abortion ban because of a draconian 1931 state law. I knew we couldn’t wait so I filed a lawsuit asking the Michigan Supreme Court to affirm the right to reproductive health care in the state constitution.
The courts halted the enforcement of the law for now, but we cannot afford to lose focus in the fight for reproductive freedom and abortion access.
Abortion rights are on the ballot in 19 days. Rush $7 to the DNC now to help elect leaders who will fight back against anti-choice Republicans’ ongoing attacks, defend choice, and protect abortion access.
When I say that reproductive freedom is on the ballot, I mean it literally: Voters across the country, and in my home state of Michigan will determine the future of abortion rights. There are races up and down the ballot nationwide where abortion will be a key issue.
