Here are some updates from today.

The parties in Moore v. Harper — the case out of North Carolina attempting to advance the fringe independent state legislature theory — have filed briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court ahead of oral argument on Dec. 7. Here’s a breakdown of what each side is arguing. [link removed]

Today, national and state Democratic parties and voting groups each filed motions to intervene in a Republican-sponsored lawsuit to prevent the counting of wrongly dated and undated mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania. [link removed] [link removed]

Yesterday, a Pennsylvania judge denied a Republican request to alter the rules regulating the use of drop boxes throughout Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. A win for Pennsylvania voters, this decision means that the five drop boxes that Lehigh County scheduled to deploy on Oct. 24 will stay open and accessible. [link removed]

Yesterday, nine Republican U.S. House members sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland demanding information and transparency about President Joe Biden’s pro-voting executive order issued in March. [link removed]

Yesterday, commissioners in Bexar County, Texas held a special meeting to approve 302 polling locations and 51 early voting sites after a court ordered the county to increase the number of polling sites throughout the county. [link removed]

On Monday, the Florida Democratic Party filed a lawsuit against Florida Secretary of State Cord Byrd (R) and Attorney General Ashley Moody (R) challenging parts of Senate Bill 524, which was enacted in April. The lawsuit specifically focuses on the provision that makes it a third-degree felony for election officials to release results before polls close.

Also on Monday, a Nebraska voter filed a fringe lawsuit against Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts (R), Attorney General Doug Peterson (R), Secretary of State Bob Evnen (R) and the Election Systems and Software Company of Omaha alleging that Nebraska elections are conducted in an unconstitutional manner and seeking $10 billion in damages.
