Dear MoveOn member,
In the race that's the best opportunity in the country for Democrats to flip a red Senate seat blue, Republicans have sunk to a new low.
In the race for Senate in Pennsylvania, Republicans are attacking Democrat John Fetterman—who had a stroke in May—for using closed-captioning technology during a recent interview.1 The technology transcribed a reporter's questions and displayed them on a screen for Fetterman to read to help him with auditory processing, as he recovers from the stroke.2
His Republican opponent, Mehmet Oz, has made attacking Fetterman's recovery "a cornerstone of his campaign," particularly his use of closed captioning.3 And the right-wing media has been piling on.
That's right: Republicans are trying to exploit Fetterman's disability in order to win the race.
Sadly, John, the despicable right-wing attacks are working, and Oz is closing in on Fetterman, who had been leading in the polls for months.4 And now, Karl Rove's PAC is flooding the race with $4.1 million in attack ads.5
John, the unvarnished truth is that Democrats are being outspent in the midterm elections—badly.
Astonishingly, Super PACs, dark-money groups, and other special interests have spent over $1 billion on the 2022 midterm elections, making this the most expensive midterm campaign season in American history.6
In a dire development, conservative outside groups are currently outspending progressive ones 2-to-1. You read that correctly: The far right is spending TWICE as much on these elections as progressives.7
Karl Rove's Super PAC alone has spent nearly $40 million in Pennsylvania to take down John Fetterman and install Trump lackey Dr. Oz.8
Nevertheless, John Fetterman has a slight lead in the polls. His campaign is a powerful testament to the fact that while the far right will sink as low as possible with corporate money on their side, we have people who see humanity in others and people power on our side.
Please, do not allow Steve Bannon, Karl Rove, and Dr. Oz to spend their way to victory and take this Senate seat away from us.
John Fetterman is on the verge of winning. We now need to do our part to make sure he has enough money to get out the vote in these final 19 days of the election.
Thanks for all you do.

Want to support MoveOn's work? Donald Trump and his MAGA allies are methodically enacting a plan to place some of Trump's most ardent supporters in key election offices that oversee vote counting, have the power to certify—or decertify—election results, and declare election winners and losers. We've launched a powerful, multimillion-dollar campaign to stop Trump. But we need your help to power our effort.
Will you chip in to power our campaign to defeat Trump cronies this November and elect officials who will count each and every vote?
