For weeks, activists and groups like the Sunrise Movement and Justice
Democrats have been demanding a Climate Debate — because tackling the
climate crisis is the defining intersectional issue of not just the
Presidential Election, but this entire generation.

Our organizing and pressure is working — and we won. Just last week, CNN
announced that it would be holding a three hour climate town hall, and
MSNBC announced it would also hold a climate candidate forum at
Georgetown.

This is why we do more than elect candidates. We organize and put pressure
on targets while building a movement to transform the entire political
conversation. We deserve a robust climate debate that’s more than just 10
minutes of short talking points.

Together, we’ve shown that the model works. The incredible victories of
the Squad represent the promise of a multiracial democracy and a future
America that works for all of us. Imagine what we can do if we elect 10,
20, or 30 more Justice Democrats in 2020. Seeing a Green New Deal on the
center stage shows what we can achieve if we present bold, progressive
policies to the American people.

But we’re up against some powerful forces. Corporate PACs are working
around the clock to protect incumbents, and lobby against our legislative
priorities — because the system protects wealthy elites, and they want to
keep it that way.

We don’t have corporate PACs or wealthy mega donors. Justice Democrats is
100% funded by the grassroots — with an average donation of just $16.61.
But right now, we’re behind on our end-of-month benchmark goal for July.
