Dear Friend,

As I travel throughout North Mississippi, I have heard your concerns. I know you are worried about the economy and, most importantly, what is going to happen to our great Nation moving forward. Hardworking Mississippians have suffered under the failed Biden Administration policies that pushed inflation to record highs, forcing families to pay more for everything from groceries to gas. At the same time, retirement savings have taken a direct hit from a shrinking economy - $2.1 TRILLION. 

The Republican Commitment to America plan will launch as soon as we take back the U.S. House of Representatives. We will put a stop to wasteful spending, which has increased by over $9 trillion since February 2021. Expect to see a return to energy independence - a move that will reduce gas prices, heating, and cooling bills. We will strengthen the supply chain and work to end dependence on other countries for goods and services. We will do everything in our power to reduce crime which begins with supporting our men and women in law enforcement. National security, once again, is a top priority. Additionally, we will hold Washington accountable through oversight, holding all those accountable for making irresponsible and behind-closed-doors decisions.

Jake Doty is a first-generation farmer. When he was in high school, Jake worked for farmers during the summer. He knew there would come a day when he would have a farm of his own. In 2014, Jake decided it was time to pursue his dream. Currently, Jake farms a total of 1,200 acres. Recently, harvest season began, resulting in long hours in corn and soybean fields. "It's in your blood - even if I didn't grow up doing it," Jake said. "There have been times that I have worked from daylight to daylight." 

Like other producers, Jake continues to grapple with a sharp increase in the prices for fuel and fertilizer. This makes it more difficult to invest in equipment and infrastructure that would enable him to grow his operation. Jake would like to store the grain he harvests on his farm and sell it directly to end users, resulting in a better profit margin. For now, on-farm grain storage is a costly goal that will have to wait.

It is vital that we bring much-needed relief to our farmers and to all Americans who are suffering under the failed Biden Administration policies. Soaring inflation and skyrocketing gas prices must be addressed. House Agriculture Committee Republicans, of which I am a member, have introduced H.R. 8069, the Reducing Farm Input Costs and Barriers to Domestic Production Act. This bill requires the Biden Administration to reverse its regulatory barriers to domestic agriculture production and provide relief to families across the country.

We are pleased to welcome intern Anna Harwood to our Washington, D.C., office. The Memphis native is a graduate student at the University of Miami. Anna is enjoying working with Team Kelly to learn more about the legislative process while assisting our constituents.  "I became interested in policy while attending graduate school," Anna said. "I knew an internship with Congressman Kelly would provide me with invaluable firsthand experience and skills to jump-start my career in policy. Congressman Kelly's service on the House Agriculture Committee would also allow me to explore my interests in agriculture policy. Anna is the daughter of Jimmy and Grace Harwood.
