John, Meet Ella Paligo. Ella is always looking for a way to make an impact. She’s currently a senior in high school in Henderson, Tennessee, where she’s equally involved with her school and community. Whether it’s being a key part of her school’s student government, helping incarcerated individuals as they prepare for release, or continuing to advocate for a tobacco-free future, Ella has always been willing to go the extra mile to make the world a better place. Ella and her friends started a public health group with her friends before eventually joining the Sumner County TNSTRONG Ambassadors – which we recognized with our 2022 Group Youth Advocates of the Year award! |

“Being as brave and persistent as possible – that’s how you’re going to get somewhere with the change you want to make.” |

Our National Youth Ambassadors are high school students who have demonstrated leadership in fighting tobacco in their communities. These advocates are chosen annually as representatives of their state through a competitive application process. They receive training and participate in activities throughout the year. This profile series showcases their incredible work! Look out for a new profile every other Wednesday. – Alex |
