This is not going to be one of those emails where I compare tonight’s pre-election FEC fundraising deadline to an actual crisis.

Our campaign may not be facing an actual crisis – but you know as well as I do that our country is staring down more than one of them.

A constitutional crisis where Republicans aren’t just refusing to honor the oaths they swore as elected officials – but are actively working to dismantle the values, norms, and institutions our country was founded upon.

A climate crisis that poses an existential threat to humanity as a whole – that we are fighting with two hands tied behind our backs in the name of “bipartisanship” as our window to act closes fast.

A crisis of conscience where millions of Americans are struggling to hold onto their health care, save up for retirement, make ends meet, and pay off their student loans.

A crisis of freedoms and democracy in peril as Republican lawmakers dismantle voting rights, abortion rights, and the right to protest.

Keeping me in Congress is not the end-all-be-all. But I am a top target for national Republicans in 2022, and if they succeed in flipping this seat they will have one more vote to advance their dangerous agenda.
