I’m Congressman David Cicilline, and I’m emailing you on behalf of my friend Hank Johnson. Hank and I have been working together in the Judiciary Committee to hold the Supreme Court accountable for its backward rulings that are throwing away precedent, eroding civil liberties, and endangering Americans’ lives.

 

Hank has been leading the fight to reform the federal judiciary and stop the ideological offensive the right wing of the Supreme Court is waging on Americans’ rights. He’s introduced key reforms to undo the GOP’s hold on the court. Together, we’re building support among our Democratic colleagues for this plan. And John — it’s working.

 

But if Republicans take control of the House in November, they’ll take us in the opposite direction and solidify the ultraconservative court’s stranglehold on the country. So I’m asking you for your help. Will you split a contribution between Hank and me so we can do our part in securing the Democratic majority, and so we can keep our focus on safeguarding Americans’ rights?

We all know what a GOP-controlled House will do. They’ll vote to pass a nationwide ban on abortion and target marriage equality and LGBTQ+ rights. As Chair of the Congressional Equality Caucus, I know what’s at stake.

 

It is CRITICAL that we hold our majority and reverse the far-right slant of the court by enforcing a code of ethics for justices and reforming the way that justices are accountable to the people.
