Friend,

It’s no secret that public education is under constant attack by Texas Republicans.

Led by extremists like Dan Patrick, they’re hellbent on defunding our public schools and funneling those funds to vouchers for private schools. They’re taking a page straight out of the fascist playbook and banning books that offend them. They’re tying our teachers’ hands and forcing them to teach fictional versions of history.

All of this has a massive impact on education -- not just here in Texas, but all across the country. Because Texas has such a high number of public school students and is one of the largest buyers of textbooks, our state’s educational policies end up influencing classrooms all across the country.

Friend, this is not the standard that Texas should be setting -- and we have the power to change that in this election.

In this election, we have the opportunity to elect ten strong Democratic candidates to the State Board of Education: Melissa Ortega, Victor Perez, Marisa Perez-Diaz, Rebecca Bell-Metereau, Michelle Palmer, Daniel Hochman, Luis Sifuentes, Alex Cornwallis, Aicha Davis, and Tracy Fisher. (Read more about them here.) But sending them to the SBOE can’t happen without support from people like you.

To save our education system here in Texas, we have to turn out voters all across the state to elect Texas Democrats up and down the ticket, including these State Board of Education candidates. Friend, will you rush a $22 donation to help power our work through Election Day?

The future of education for not just our kids but future generations hangs in the balance in this election. Working together, we can shape that future this November.

Texas forever,

Ryan Garcia
