Hi, friend. I rarely get a spare moment to reflect these days – but this morning, I came across this photo of my family from back when I was a kid. I have to admit, I got a little teary-eyed.

I grew up the daughter of a maid and a janitor in the 1960s South – and today, I'm running to represent my state in the U.S. Senate.  Friend, only in America could a poor Black girl have achieved this level of opportunity. I hope I've made my parents proud. 

It's truly astounding that I'm on the cusp of winning this race: Polls showed me tied with Marco Rubio – but I'm coming up short on my goal heading into our final FEC reporting deadline at midnight tonight. I'm so close, friend. I just need to close this fundraising gap to take the lead.

I hate asking for money. Trust me, I know how much even $10 can mean when you and your family are struggling to get by. That's why I'm asking you to donate just $5 – the price of a coffee run – to my Senate campaign if you have that much to spare before my midnight deadline tonight.

I know $5 might not seem like much. But if you join the thousands of grassroots donors who have already donated $5 to flip Florida blue, we'll be able to defeat Marco Rubio and defend our Senate majority.

With Senate control on the line, I have to ask: Will you donate $5 (or more!) right now to help me reach my midnight goal, win this race and deliver better leadership to Florida?
