Voting rights and abortion access aren’t the only key issues on the ballot this November. Medicare and Social Security benefits for our seniors could be on the chopping block, too.

Recently, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy announced he and his party would risk a government shutdown to cut costs for our social service programs, denying millions of seniors affordable health coverage and services that they’ve rightfully earned.

Congressional Republicans continue to make one thing very clear, folks, and it’s that relief for the American people is not a priority. We need leaders that won’t cut corners and short Americans of their hard-earned benefits. Will you pitch in $5 right away to help Democrats defend their majority and end these attacks on our seniors?

Protecting our seniors should not be a question. For decades, they worked and contributed their hard-earned dollars so that they might one day enjoy America’s promise. Robbing them of these provisions sends a dark message that we don’t care about them or their quality of life, even after years of hard work and service.

Democrats like Lisa Blunt Rochester understand the importance of programs like these and have been committed since day one to stand in the way of attacks on our seniors, but continuing this fight means we have to keep our Congressional majority.

Should Republicans win either the House or Senate, they have vowed to block any chance at progress, regardless of what that will mean for all of us. We can’t stand for it.
