Friend, we’re less than three weeks away from Election Day, but November 8 is only the last day of voting. Early Voting has already begun!

This year, we have a unique opportunity to elect a majority of climate leaders in the California Legislature. And these four Senate candidates are essential to achieving that goal: Dave Jones, Aisha Wahab, Caroline Menjivar, and Catherine Blakespear.

Will you make a donation to help these candidates win and get us closer to a climate majority in the Senate? [link removed]

Thanks!

California State Senate priority candidates to support in 2022 >> [link removed]

The 2022 General Election on Tuesday, November 8 is fast approaching, and we have a crucial opportunity to start shifting the balance of power in the California Legislature from corporate aligned politicians to a true environmental majority. We’re calling this plan the Path to 62: 21 climate votes in the State Senate and 41 climate votes in the State Assembly.

We’ve identified four climate champions running for State Senate who are advocates for clean energy, clean air, and clean water in their communities. Polluting industries are scared of these four, and are spending heavily to keep them out of Sacramento. With your support and participation, we can help make sure corporate polluters don’t win and the climate justice leaders California needs at this time are elected to office.

Our goal of achieving a climate majority in the Senate starts with this election.

Dave Jones (SD 08) – Dave understands the global climate crisis, and has spent over two decades fighting to solve it. As a City Councilmember, State Assemblymember, and State Insurance Commissioner, Dave leveraged all the tools at his disposal to protect the environment and advance climate justice. Big Oil is spending to oppose him, so your donation helps Dave fight back.

Aisha Wahab (SD 10) – Aisha is the first Afghan-American woman to be elected to public office in the U.S. As Mayor Pro Tem and City Councilmember of Hayward, she has declared a climate emergency to push forward a net-zero future, opposed offshore oil drilling, and been a champion for renewable energy. Her opponent, on the other hand, wants to put business interests ahead of the environment and the health of her community.

Caroline Menjivar (SD 20) – Caroline is a social worker, nonprofit director, and marine veteran whose life has been in public service. She is focused on uplifting the most vulnerable people in her community, which is why she wants to be a champion for clean air and public transportation in the Senate. Caroline has the experience and commitment needed to be a strong voice for her community.

Catherine Blakespear (SD 38) ─ As Mayor, Caroline helped Encinitas become the first city to deliver 100% renewable power in San Diego County. She helped pass a tough climate action plan to reduce emissions, including the first ordinance in San Diego County to require new buildings be all electric. Her track record of environmental stewardship, as mayor and as a former City Councilmember, makes her the Climate Champion we need.

By contributing through California Environmental Voters, not only does your contribution directly support the candidate, it sends a message to them that the environmental and climate justice movements are firmly behind them.
