Winter is about to hit vulnerable refugees

Dear John,

We are in a race against time. Winter is on the horizon, and we have a small window of opportunity to provide warmth and shelter to refugees before temperatures drop, snowstorms hit, and whole villages become isolated for months.

Last year, UNHCR delivered emergency aid to 3,1 million people across Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Afghanistan. And more to help this year...

   We focused our efforts on:

Cash assistance to help vulnerable families meet the additional needs brought on by winter

Providing core relief items, such as thermal blankets and warm clothes

➤ Repairing and weatherproofing shelters, along with improving infrastructure in camps and settlements

Who we help?

Did you know that we also support Internally Displaced People (IDPs) fleeing conflict, as well as refugees? There are more than twice as many IDPs as there are refugees, making them the largest, and one of the most vulnerable, groups affected by forced displacement. While IDPs often face many of the same challenges as refugees, it is often much more difficult to reach people who are displaced within conflict zones.

This year, our resources are stretched further than ever before.

The war in Ukraine has forced more than 14 million people from their homes, food and energy prices are soaring, and COVID-19 still threatens the elderly.
We need to act before vulnerable families are trapped in the grip of winter. You can help us by making a donation today.

Thank you for your support,
