John — Did you know medically accurate, age-appropriate sex education is only mandatory in 17 states across the country? That six states actually require instruction discriminating against LGBTQ+ people? This is why we created Queer Sex Ed, a five-part video series highlighting important, queer-inclusive conversations about sexual health that aren't being discussed in schools. It is a bold and intimate look into how LGBTQ+ young people learn about and discuss sex, diving into discussions normally reserved for friend groups in private. The conversations are observed by professional sex educators Dr. Lexx Brown-James and Melina Gaze, who weigh in throughout to offer fact-based context and help frame the conversations from mental health and global perspectives. Queer Sex Ed is sex education for youth who lack access to this necessary and potentially life-saving information. The first episode of Queer Sex Ed, about the portrayal of sex in media, is available to watch now. Look for new episodes of Queer Sex Ed at itgetsbetter.org every Wednesday for the next four weeks.
