#BreakUpTicketmaster
Live Nation and Ticketmaster merged in 2010, and now own more than 70% of the primary ticketing and live event venues market. They use this power to jack up ticket prices, sneak in junk fees, and screw over artists, independent venues, and fans. Simply put, Live Nation-Ticketmaster provides bad service at outrageous prices.
So , w hile concert goers’ taste in music may differ a nd sports fans may cheer for different teams, there’s one thing we can all agree on — it’s time to break up Ticketmaster. Today, we’re launching a campaign [[link removed]] with Sports Fans Coalition, Fight Corporate Monopolies, More Perfect Union, Fan Freedom, the Consumer Federation of America, the National Consumers League, and the Artist Rights Alliance to do just that. This morning, we released a new policy quick-take [[link removed]] that explains why Live Nation-Ticketmaster is one of the clearest examples of failed antitrust policy. More Perfect Union is out today with a new video [[link removed]] featuring author and journalist Cory Doctorow that details the harms stemming from this disastrous deal. And together with our partners, we’re also kicking-off a letter writing campaign [[link removed]] for consumers, artists, and businesses to tell the Department of Justice to break up this failed merger and bring fair competition back.
