Thank you to everyone who extended their love and support for A New Deal for Youth (ND4Y)’s first Week of Action! From October 6 to October 9, 2022, ND4Y Changemakers engaged with policymakers, built community, shared the importance of our Demands, and had fun!
As Changemaker Marissa Howdershelt said, “Being an advocate and also someone who has lived experience with mental illness, there was definitely a point in time where I didn’t think it was going to be something seriously talked about on a national level. So I’m excited that it is and I just hope that we don’t stop here, that we continue because there’s a lot more work that needs to be done in regards to actual mental health accessibility for all people.”
We hope our Week of Action demonstrated the importance of taking action, building community, and advocating for yourself and others. Though our first Week of Action is over, we encourage you all to continue engaging in these virtual actions - as Marissa said, our work isn’t done!

The New Deal for Youth Policy Platform advances radical and interconnected policy ideas that transform current systems, while also centering racial, gender, and social justice. Our policies seek to redefine whose expertise, experiences, and systems of knowledge are valued, understanding that young people not only deserve a seat at the decision-making table, but can also shake the table and create the menu. We believe in actively combatting classist and racist systems, championing models that empower communities, and amplifying the voices of young people as decision-makers in the future of our greater society.
