John, 19,216 people have taken action since Mark emailed about our background checks petition yesterday – but we’re still missing your name.

Seven years after our children and loved ones were murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary – and even after hundreds of mass shootings this year alone – the Senate keeps putting off this lifesaving gun safety legislation that the House passed more than 10 months ago.

With children dying from gun violence every day, their inaction is beyond unacceptable. That’s why we can’t let up the pressure on our leaders – we need to get to 30,000 signatures demanding a vote on universal background checks now.

Please, we urgently need your signature: Click here to sign our petition right now demanding the Senate finally pass universal background checks to help protect children from gun violence.

We’re so grateful to have you with us to show the Senate that we aren’t giving up.

Subject: Sign the petition: Pass background checks NOW – it’s been 10 months!

John,

Today marks 10 months since the House passed a historic background checks bill – but the Senate has flat-out refused to vote on it.

While we've urged the Senate to act over these past 10 months, there have been more than 350 mass shootings. There have been at least 35 school shootings – like the one where my sweet little Daniel was murdered seven years ago.

The last time we've been this close to passing background check legislation was just a few months after Daniel's murder. I went from congressional office to congressional office sharing Daniel's story – showing them the human toll of inaction.

It gutted me to watch that vote fail, but I refused to give up then, and I refuse to give up now.

Every minute we wait to act, another child's life is at risk. So I'm personally asking you: Will you help us send 30,000 petition signatures to the Senate now to show them we aren't giving up?

Click here to sign our petition demanding the Senate pass universal background checks now to keep guns out of dangerous hands and protect children from gun violence. We cannot afford to wait any longer.

We cannot let the Senate's continued inaction go unanswered. We have a real chance to protect children from gun violence, and I'm counting on your help to demand that the Senate finally take action to make meaningful change.

Thank you,

Mark Barden (Daniel's father)
