Dear  John,

One year ago, the world of letters lost one of its most energetic, cheerful, and gregarious contributors: Gerald Russello, longtime editor of The University Bookman. Please join us on Monday, November 14, 2022, for a night of fellowship as the Russell Kirk Center honors Gerald's memory and unveils its plans to carry forward his legacy in the years to come.

John Emmet Clarke, Editor-in-Chief of Cluny Media, will give the keynote address, "Take and Read, Lest You Forget: The Enduring Value of Old Books." Drinks and hors d'oeuvres will be served. The event begins at 6:00 p.m. and will be held at Gerald’s alma mater, Regis High School, 55 East 84th Street, New York, NY.

More information is available on The University Bookman page. If you will be in the New York area, you are invited to register for the event. For those who are farther afield, the event will be livestreamed and you can join by clicking the button below on 11/14/22 at 6:45pm ET.

Russell Kirk liked to quote the French writer Gustave Le Bon who wrote: “The dead alone give us energy.” Gerald is now among those dead who give us energy. His literary labors to restore our cultural patrimony are an inspiration. We at the Russell Kirk Center will remember him always. His friendship and example encourage our work to redeem the time through good books and writing.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey O. Nelson, Ph.D.
