My opponent is Matt Gaetz. He has a pattern of being reckless about what he says and does. Many actions he takes are clearly to protect a corrupt and now impeached President. Good and honorable character in the individuals we elect is essential for our democratic republic to ensure freedom and “provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States”. Good citizenship in America requires us to hold public officials to account. Such must be the case with this incumbent representative.
Time after time, Matt Gaetz speaks without thinking about how his actions will affect his constituents. That stops now. I have and will continue to call Matt Gaetz out on his dishonorable actions.
A pattern of dishonorable conduct:
Matt Gaetz mocks the U.S. legislative process and the very governmental body he serves in time after time. In his latest episode, Matt Gaetz spoke with a veteran about Trump's impeachment and said that he believes our Democracy is not sacred.
Matt Gaetz with a coalition of Republicans stormed a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) and violated national security protocals trying to disrupt the Trump impeachment process. As reported by the The Independent, "the real reason Matt Gaetz and “his coalition of the stupid” stormed the SCIF was to try and win the hearts and minds of their Fox News-addicted base."
Matt Gaetz is mired in an U.S. House ethics investigation for threatening to release degrading information about a witness before their testimony. Gaetz had the audacity to blow off the House committee during the investigation, which Politico called “an extraordinary rebuke to his colleagues.”
Matt Gaetz supports the inhumane policies of child cruelty at the Southwest border. He also believes that these individuals seeking asylum in the U.S. are the cause of almost all violence in Northwest Florida.
Matt Gaetz was literally the only person to vote against an anti-human trafficking bill.
Matt Gaetz lied about federal environmental protections on beaches his land grab beach bill that would have paved a legal path to private development of public beaches. That was a lie about our beaches.
Matt Gaetz tried to kick out the Parkland parents who lost children from a congressional hearing on gun violence.
Matt Gaetz invited far-right extremist Chuck Johnson to be his guest at Trump’s first State of the Union. Chuck Johnson was taken off Twitter for wanting to “take out” a Black Lives Matter leader and also said he "never believed the 6 million figure” for the Holocaust.
Military veterans know the honor code, “I will not lie, cheat or steal; nor tolerate those among us who do.” Matt Gaetz has certainly proven over and over again with multiple examples that he does not understand the honor code. Matt Gaetz’s conduct in all these matters is reckless, deliberate, sustained and dishonorable.
