Super PACs put nearly $15 million behind Ted Budd’s campaign to buy the primary, and Cheri Beasley was the first challenger that National Republicans attacked on the air. We were down 1 to 2 points in the polls, and we knew McConnell’s top two super PACs had pledged to spend at least $30 million against us.

But Cheri pledged to stand up against the petty Washington politics and continue running this campaign the right way — with people power, not Washington special interests.
