Friend — this week, we’re celebrating a revolutionary victory for the environmental movement.

50 years ago today, Congress passed the Clean Water Act. In 1972, this legislation ended the disastrous practice of dumping sewage and industrial waste into our waterways, establishing clean water as a critical human right.

As Californians, we know how precious water is. With nearly 1.6 million acres of lakes, 1.3 million acres of bays and estuaries, 211,000 miles of rivers and streams, and 1,100 miles of coastline, we have a lot of water to protect!

From the wetlands of Arcata to the fisheries and tributaries of Mono Lake, the Clean Water Act has empowered the California State Water Board to protect and restore vital waterways for five decades.

At EnviroVoters, we’re celebrating by working to elect climate candidates across the state — environmental champions who will build upon past victories and help chart a course through today’s climate crisis.

As the climate crisis intensifies, the need to elect leaders committed to protecting people and the planet is more urgent than ever. Can we count on you to help elect climate champions by casting your vote in the upcoming November 8 election?

Thank you for fighting for a green future.
