With New Year’s Eve a few days away, I’m reflecting on 2019 and what lies ahead. In 2020 I am running to replace a 26-year incumbent and bring true and full representation to all people of NY-12. Carolyn Maloney is backed by millions of dollars from corporations that are desperate to maintain the status quo. I know things need to change. I decided to run for Congress because I can’t sit on the sidelines while such urgent issues plague our district, country and planet. Here is how I will fight for all of us:
I support the Green New Deal, a ban on single-use plastics by 2030, and an end to subsidizing factory farming and our fossil fuel industry. We should instead subsidize sustainable farming practices, green energy and compostable plastics. We need to incentivize using the greenest method of transportation possible, and ensure public transit is free for all.
I will advocate for Single-Payer Medicare-for-All. Our healthcare system is broken. No one should go broke after an injury or illness. No one should have to choose between groceries or paying their medical bills. I support medical debt forgiveness, free prescription drug coverage, mental healthcare, dental, vision AND hearing coverage for all.
I will represent the needs of every person in our district, not just the wealthy and powerful. I will not answer to the big corporations that finance my opponent, Carolyn Maloney. New York’s 12th District has changed a lot since she has been in office, but it is time it's represented in Congress by someone who is in touch with the everyday issues faced within it.
I know together we can bring real change to Congress. We only have six months until I am on the ballot along with the Head of the Oversight Committee who has accepted campaign donations from Trump throughout her career and did not call for his impeachment until 4 months after I did.
