It’s a busy election season. That includes here in Arkansas and a few hours down I-22 in Georgia, where an incredible candidate by the name of Stacey Abrams (you may have heard of her!) is also running for governor.

I have great respect for Stacey, and the movement she’s been building in Georgia has inspired much of what we’re doing in Arkansas. She was among the first to change the conversation around voter engagement in so-called ‘red’ states, and now she’s working to take that to the next level — and all the way to the governor’s office.

There’s a ton at stake with these races. Both our opponents are dangerous extremists whose leadership will only drag us backwards, and not into the bright, prosperous futures Stacey and I envision. So many of our fundamental rights are going to come down to governors over the next few years, and you can count on Stacey and me to keep up the fight, no matter what it takes.

I’ve got so much love for Georgia. I’m a proud alum of the historic Morehouse College, so needless to say I’ve spent my fair share of time up and down the interstate between Pine Bluff and Atlanta. Much like Arkansas, Georgia is in a tug-of-war between its past and its future: between what we know is possible and what those already in power insist is not.

I identify with Stacey so much because we’re running for the same reason — to unlock the vast potential of our great states and our amazing people. We’ve seen our visions resonate across age, race, and creed because we’re inspiring unity and harmony, not hate and division. And with both of our races on the line in these final, pivotal weeks, I’m confident that you and this people-powered movement could make the difference we’ll need to come out ahead.
