[1]Cheri Beasley for North Carolina
Hey there,
It’s John Grisham, reaching out on behalf of the woman I hope we will elect as North Carolina’s next Senator: Cheri Beasley. Can you give me a moment to explain why her race is so important and what her leadership in the Senate would mean for our families?
I spend a lot of time thinking and writing about justice in this country — and how often it is out of reach for working people, particularly in poor communities and communities of color.
Today, stories like mine are a lot harder to come by. I was born and raised in the deep south. We didn’t have much. My parents didn’t have a formal education, but they worked hard to make sure we had enough and gave us every opportunity they could to thrive.
Too many families struggle to get ahead, and for a lot of folks, the opportunities I got were always out of reach. The status quo has always been and remains tilted in favor of the wealthy and well-connected, and it’s no accident.
Cheri Beasley understands that it’s time to level the playing field for working families, and that’s what she will do as North Carolina’s next Senator. But first, she needs our help to win this race.
Will you please donate anything you can to her campaign today? Corporate special interests are spending over $34 million attacking her to buy this seat, and we need to make sure they cannot drown her out with dark money.

North Carolina and Cheri’s campaign are personally important to me. My wife was born in Raleigh, and my family is full of Tar Heels. I know that this state deserves a leader like Cheri representing them in the U.S. Senate, and for all of us, flipping this seat is one of our best chances to move the needle toward justice in this country.
Cheri would provide one of the most important and impactful voices in Washington. She is undeniably qualified with her wealth of experience as a public defender, judge, and Chief Justice of North Carolina’s Supreme Court. She will also bring an important perspective to the Senate Chamber that currently has zero African American women serving.
I know we can trust her to stand up to the special interests that thrive off of Washington gridlock and corruption.
But we cannot expect our broken system to fix itself. We have to fight for it. So I am asking:
Please consider making a contribution to Cheri’s campaign today to win North Carolina. Early voting starts in two days, and it’s going to take a lot of us chipping in what we can to take on the corrupt interests trying to buy this seat.

Thank you for standing with Cheri Beasley and helping us bend the arc toward justice.
Sincerely,
John Grisham
