1) No! Biden Didn’t Inherit An Economy In “Free Fall”

The sure sign of a failing presidency is to blame your predecessor. Sure enough, Biden’s team took to the airwaves this past weekend rewriting history by declaring – as Pete Buttigieg – did that the economy was “in free fall” when Biden entered office. It’s Trump’s fault.

Not even close to the truth. In the second half of 2020, the economy wasn’t falling. It surged by almost 20%.

As this House Ways and Means Committee report reminds us:

Experts predicted 2021 would be a banner year for America’s economy. Perhaps the best ever. President Biden inherited a historic economic rebound from COVID that smashed expectations, lifesaving vaccines, major regions re-opening from lockdowns, and trillions of dollars in bipartisan COVID relief coursing through the economy.

Yet, in his first year in the White House, according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, the economy failed to meet consensus projections every quarter of his presidency.  That trend of economic underperformance has continued in the first three quarters of 2022.

Steve Moore demolished the myth of a collapsing economy in this Fox interview:

2) Education Reformers Vie For $1 Million Yass Prize

There is still hope to transform the mess of our education system into world-class learning opportunities for low-income kids.

Last week in New York City Janine Yass announced the 32 finalists for this year’s prestigious Yass Prize for Sustainable, Transformational, Outstanding, and Permissionless Education. The event was keynoted by CTUP’s co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Media Steve Forbes.

The Yass Prize will provide more than $11 million this year to support education organizations – mostly in inner cities – to the educators offering exceptional 21st-century learning opportunities for kids trapped in poor-performing public schools.

“The launch of the award last year uncovered hundreds of inspirational and innovative schools and learning centers across the country,” says Ms. Yass. She adds that the “goal is to find and fund the best and influence others to follow their examples, so that no child has to wait for the education that best meets their needs.”

The Yass Prize will donate $11 million this year to the 32 semifinalists with the top performer receiving $1 million.

3) Is The Fed Now Part Of The Deep State? 90% Of The Economists At The Federal Reserve With Party Affiliation Are…Democrats

With inflation at 8%+ for eight straight months, it is safe to say that the Ph.D. economists at the Fed have hardly recorded stellar performance in recent years. These are the brainiacs who assured us that inflation would be “transitory.”

Some very disturbing findings from a new study on the political affiliation of the top economists who work in the temple of the Federal Reserve or at the regional banks. While most don’t list a party affiliation, of those who do 90% are Democrats. This comes from a study in the Independent Review:

The survey of the top Fed economists finds:

The survey also found that the younger economists are more likely to be Democrats than the older PhDs at the Fed. In other words, the big-government bias at the Fed is getting worse, not better.

The study also reviewed speeches and writings of Fed board members and economists and came to this troubling conclusion:

“Research and speeches by the Fed economists are increasingly focusing on climate change, gender, race, and inequality.” Gee, that sounds a lot like the Biden economic playbook that has now infiltrated our Central Bank.

So let us get this straight: the Fed can’t stop inflation, but they CAN change the earth’s temperature.

4) Defund The 87,000 New IRS Agents

No group has been more relentless in attacking the outrage of 87,000 new IRS agents than CTUP. Democrats have claimed with a straight face the money will go to improve customer service (only 4 percent is earmarked for that) and crack down on wealthy tax cheats.

Now Republicans are picking up on the message. A slew of GOP ads attacking the IRS expansion in Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada are making this a priority issue – borrowing from our line that more money is going to the IRS than to border agents, military personnel, and police.

Kevin McCarthy vows that when he becomes Speaker of the House in January he will make defunding the IRS the first bill in the House. Let’s hope that’s a promise he keeps.

5) Will Black Women Vote Republican In November

No other demographic group votes as a bloc for Dems (92%) more than African America women.

After the Supreme Court handed down its Dobbs decision, the major media “warned” women would go to the polls in record numbers seeking retribution against Republicans.

Maybe not.

Nearly three-quarters of black women recently surveyed survey said they were “motivated more than ever before” to vote in November – and the top reason is rising prices.

You read that right. Three of four black women polled by Change Research said they were “extremely worried” about rising prices. Interestingly the poll, conducted for a PAC “that helps elect Black progressive women” showed higher rent, grocery, and gas prices are their top issues.

Even a slight shift in the black vote toward republicans could mean dozens of additional wins in federal races and scores more at the state level.

6) In Oregon, The Cocaine Is Legal But The Straw Is Illegal

We found this one on a tip from Nike founder Phil Knight in a NYT story:

Mr. Knight, who rarely speaks with reporters, said in an interview on Thursday that he would do whatever he could to stop Ms. Kotek from becoming governor, describing himself as “an anti-Tina person.” He said he had never spoken with Ms. Drazan.

“One of the political cartoons after our legislative session had a person snorting cocaine out of a mountain of white,” Mr. Knight said. “It said, ‘Which of these is illegal in Oregon?’ And the answer was the plastic straw.”
