INSIGHT

The Imperative to Build Cultural Competency

Good intentions don’t always lead to good impact. In these highlights from a session at PEAK’s 2022 Volunteer Leadership Summit, PEAK’s Lita Ugarte Pardi talks with leading DEI expert Ruchika Tulshyan, who challenges organizations to develop more empathy, meaningfully uplift and show up for people, and implement more inclusive practices.

Get PEAK’s Emergent Learning Playbook

The newest edition of the Journal is out! For this issue, we rallied together members from across our community to help us create a play-by-play guide to adopting and operationalizing emergent learning—a practice that encourages us to be adaptive, inclusive, transparent, vulnerable, and curious. And when we are emergent learners together, the PEAK community can transform the field of philanthropy.

Join Our Community Conversation on Emergent Learning

On November 1, we invite members to attend our Community Conversation to dive deeper into insights from the Journal. PEAK’s Satonya Fair will lead a conversation with guest editors Melanie Matthews and Shantelice White to delve into the themes that resonate throughout this issue and the processes and mindsets that allow learning to thrive. Together, we'll explore how you can champion a culture of emergent learning within your organization and across the field.

CHAPTER SPOTLIGHT

Practicing Trust-Based Philanthropy With PEAK Midwest

Last month, PEAK Midwest led an informal conversation focused on how members are implementing trust-based philanthropy and participatory grantmaking processes. The discussion opened with attendees sharing their current practices, how they got colleagues on board with using new processes, and the change management challenges, wins, and losses they experienced—and they left with new resources and methods to use in their work. Kudos to PEAK Midwest for leading the way!
