Folks,

My friend Senator Michael Bennet is running in a tight re-election campaign right now in Colorado. That’s why I visited him this week and talked with to Coloradans about the most pressing issues of this election cycle. With just a few weeks to go until Election Day, I know Colorado is fired up and ready to re-elect Michael to the U.S. Senate. It was a pleasure to campaign with Michael and witness the grassroots energy in person!

When I served in the U.S. Senate, it quickly became clear to me which of my fellow policymakers understood the intricacies of the legislation being debated on the Senate floor. Michael was one of those Senators. He has an impressive grasp of a variety of policy topics. there was an issue he wasn’t completely familiar with, (which rarely happened in the first place) Michael did his homework and learned everything he could l about the topic to make the most informed decision.

The point being, Michael is a model voice in the U.S. Senate. He cares deeply about his home state and is focused on serving both his constituents and protecting the beautiful nature that makes Colorado so unique. That means working with colleagues across the aisle and building political coalitions to support policies that will tangibly improve the lives of people in our country.

Remember the child tax credits that halved child poverty during the pandemic? Michael has been leading on that issue since I first began working with him in 2017. The same goes for the historic legislation that was passed on infrastructure spending and climate change. Almost every significant piece of legislation that goes through the U.S. Senate has been shaped in some part by Michael Bennet.

We can’t lose his intellect, and we can’t lose his voice. That’s why we need to support Michael in his re-election campaign against conservative Republican Joe O’Dea.

O’Dea has the backing of Mitch McConnell and millions of dollars from conservative interest groups from across the country. In the U.S. Senate, O’Dea will consistently vote to enrich ultra-wealthy people and corporations and vote against any attempts to materially improve the lives of working-class Americans. While he might not be as extreme as some other candidates on reproductive rights, he has still pledged to support thenationwide abortion ban proposed in the U.S. Senate.

This race might not be getting as much attention as others in the country. But the polls are tightening because O’Dea is pushing a misleading narrative of himself as a “moderate conservative.” We saw this work in Virginia with Glenn Youngkin, and we need to stop it here in Colorado.

Michael Bennet has been at the center of all the work Democrats have done in the U.S. Senate. But their majority is hanging on by a thread. If we let O’Dea win this seat, Mitch McConnell will take back power and our legislative agenda will be lost.
