Help us defend HCM restrictions

Hi John,

Right now, we’re facing not one, but TWO separate lawsuits from the gun lobby trying to block lifesaving high-capacity magazine restrictions that took effect in July.

Both lawsuits are in federal court, and the Alliance was just granted intervention status in one of them. That’s good news because it means we can officially face off against our gun lobby opponents to defend this measure that we fought for six years to pass. But it also means that we’ve got a huge fight ahead of us. We need your help to win this fight, even just $25 will make a huge difference.

We know this law is constitutional. And we’ve already faced our gun lobby opponents in court almost a dozen times and remain undefeated. But victory is not a guarantee. These cases take time and money. And the gun lobby is happy to use its deep pockets to keep fighting this fight, over and over again.

They are betting on us running out of resources. We can’t let that happen, John. Because we’re talking about defending a law that we know will save lives.

High-capacity magazines make it possible for a shooter to fire 20, 30, or even 100 rounds without reloading. These military-style magazines have been used in each of the six deadliest mass shootings in the last decade. They do not belong in our neighborhoods.

Please, give what you can today to help us defend reasonable restrictions on high-capacity magazines.

Thank you,
Renée Hopkins (she/her)
