Ecology needs to hear from you! No images? Click here Dear John, Nothing pollutes Washington’s air more than motor vehicles. A whopping 45 percent of the state’s greenhouse gas emissions – and 22 percent of total air pollution – comes from tailpipes. Busy roads and transit hubs expose over four million people in our state to diesel fumes, and Black people, Indigenous people, People of Color and low-income people are disproportionately burdened by polluted air. This needs to change. The Washington Department of Ecology is considering three major new regulations as part of the Clean Vehicles Program: 1. Advanced Clean Cars II (ACC II) will require that automakers ramp up sales of zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) starting in 2026 – and reach 100 percent by 2035. We know that polluting industries don’t want these new regulations. That’s why the department needs to hear from you. Submit your comment today and urge Ecology to: pass a strong Clean Vehicles Program rule for public health and climate action! Thank you for all you do, |
