Clooney: Republican Cruelty is ‘Coarsening’ Our Democracy

On the HBO Max show Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? recently, actor/activist George Clooney, who famously predicted Donald Trump would never be president, claims Republican cruelty is “coarsening” American political discourse.

Clooney used the recent transfers of illegal aliens by Republican governors to progressive enclaves around the country as an example. He lamented, “’Let’s send them without any warning, you know, because it’s fun to own the liberals. We’ll send them to Martha’s Vineyard, you know, where Obama’s people [are] and we’ll send them to the Vice President’s house with no warning, no health, no, nothing’. So I look at where we are in this sort of coarsening of our discourse, and I find it to be worrying.”

Clooney has conveniently forgotten that his Messiah Barack Obama coarsened our discourse by smearing half of the American electorate as “bitter clingers” to “guns and religion.” He has also forgotten that female Messiah Hillary Clinton coarsened our discourse by smearing half of America as “irredeemable” and a “basket of deplorables.”

Clooney has conveniently forgotten that the domestic terrorists of Occupy Wall Street, Antifa, and Black Lives Matter — all Democrat shock troops, not Republican — coarsened our political discourse by spreading violent anti-Americanism and openly seeking the destruction of our capitalist system.

As for Donald Trump, Clooney said, “There’s this part of you that just goes, well, that guy shouldn’t be president, but I was wrong. And he was and our democracy, I believe, paid a price, certainly around the world.”

Paid a price? America was on the way to being great again under Trump. By contrast, America and democracy are paying the price for installing — illegitimately — the radical Biden administration.

In a December 2020 interview with USA Today, Clooney voiced great optimism about the prospect of “a really effective presidency” by Joe Biden: “I feel like we’re in so much better shape because I do think this: Moments meet the man or woman. And this is Joe Biden’s moment. He is a compassionate, kind man. And we’re going to need that after we’ve lost probably … close to 400,000 people by the time we get [the coronavirus pandemic] in our rear-view mirror. We’re going to need compassion through this and [Biden] is every bit of that, on top of being a very smart, wise guy, wise man.”
