On Friday, Amazon workers at the KSBD air hub in San Bernardino went on strike to protest unfair labor practices! The workers, known as Inland Empire Amazon Workers United (IEAWU), have been organizing for over a year to improve their jobs.

I joined IEAWU on the picket line along with community members, my colleagues at PowerSwitch Action, and organizers from our affiliates, Warehouse Worker Resource Center (WWRC) and Center on Policy Initiatives (CPI). WWRC works to improve the conditions in warehouses across Southern CA. CPI is working to get the San Diego County Board of Supervisors to adopt a Warehouse Worker Ordinance [[link removed]] — which would establish better working conditions, pay, and standards for warehouse workers in the region. All of us were there to lend support to the workers as they organize for change.

I was so inspired by the energy and the organizing behind Friday’s strike. More than 100 workers walked off the job and rallied with supporters and allies, including elected leaders. We heard from IEAWU members like Alfonso, who shared why he is organizing: “I want to be a part of a better future for our community. Good jobs, clean air, resources for the people. That’s why I fight.”
Inland Empire Amazon Workers United are organizing to transform their workplaces and their communities, and their efforts to hold Amazon to higher standards will have a ripple effect far beyond the Inland Empire. Here’s how you can support the workers at KSBD:
