Team —

I wrapped up my last in-person debate before ballots drop on Saturday, hosted by the League of Women Voters - Kitsap and the Washington State Debate Coalition. This was our biggest opportunity before voting starts to directly highlight the differences between my opponent and me, and make the case for my re-election. If you missed the debate, you can watch it in full on King5.com!

My message to the voters of the 26th was that I will fight to bring more economic opportunity to our region, protect and expand access to education and comprehensive reproductive healthcare, and invest in making our communities safer and healthier. We can only achieve these outcomes if we work together, and I believe it is our responsibility as elected officials to work across partisan and ideological lines to deliver for those we represent.

And I know our community well — this community raised me. I was born here. I grew up in Sunnyslope (in the house my mom grew up in) in a family of veterans and union workers. I graduated from South Kitsap High School. It’s because of these experiences that I fight for expanding access to education and healthcare and work so hard to improve the lives of people who live here.

That’s been my focus since I was first elected in 2018, and what I will continue to do if re-elected. I believe that listening to neighbors is the most important part of my job, and I will always put my constituents first. That’s why I believe I’m the best choice to represent you in the State Senate.

I know we‘re all weary of this year’s long campaign season, but we have less than a week until ballots drop — and only 22 days until the election. If you can, please chip in $10, $26 or whatever you can to help us hit our budget for these final few weeks! [[link removed]]

All of you have helped us to get this far, and we are so close to the finish line. When we win on November 8th, it’ll be because we all worked together to stand up for our shared values. Thanks for being on my team.

– Emily
