The Struggle for Pataxó Peoples' Rights, Territory, and Environment in Brazil

A Luta pelos Direitos, Território e Meio Ambiente dos Povos Pataxó no Brasil
------------------------------------------------------------

Tired of waiting for a State solution regarding their land rights, the Pataxó Indigenous Peoples from the southern state of Bahia, in Northeast Brazil, are reclaiming their lands that are part of the last great strongholds of the forest biome. In the process of land reclamation, Indigenous leaders are suffering attacks from armed violence by criminal groups legitimized by deliberate negligence on the part of the State. In September, 14-year-old Pataxó teenager Gustavo Silva da Conceiçãowas murdered during a violent attack against the Comexatibá Indigenous Land (TI). This webinar aims to inform about what is happening and mobilize international support.
