Friend,
Hypocritical, exploitative and divisive. Those are three words I'd use to describe the actions of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Instead of preparing his state for the devastation of Hurricane Ian, DeSantis spent September playing an inhumane game of political theater. After coercing dozens of immigrants -- including children -- onto planes flying to Martha's Vineyard earlier this month, he turned them into media pawns.
As governor of Washington, I have always and will always treat our immigrant neighbors with dignity and care. And I will always lead boldly to protect Washington and our nation from the worsening impacts of the growing climate crisis. But to keep fighting for ALL of us, I need your help. Will you chip in $10 to help us reach our mid-month goal, as I fight against these egregious political stunts by my Republican colleagues?

I'm still struck by the profound lack of empathy Governor DeSantis has shown our immigrant neighbors. And on top of that, he's a total hypocrite when it comes to the growing climate crisis.
After him and his Republican colleagues in the state have spent their careers voting against major climate laws -- including ones which provide resources to states to prepare for natural disasters like Hurricane Ian -- now they're asking for federal help to rebuild their state.
Let me be clear: The people of Florida absolutely deserve the support of our nation to rebuild. Just like our immigrant neighbors deserve our compassion and care.
But time and again, the Republican Party has shown that they're not with the immigrants who built our great nation. And they refuse to take the necessary, bold action to actually address the climate crisis.
To keep up the fight for our immigrant neighbors -- and take bold action to address climate change -- we need to keep Democrats in office, here in Washington and across the country.
Please chip in $10 right now so we can meet our October fundraising goals.
Very truly yours,
Jay
