Dear MoveOn member,

I want to share with you one of my sources of inspiration.

Yes, with 22 days remaining in this election cycle, we're mobilizing
voters, engaging volunteers, and supporting Democrats who will champion
democracy, abortion rights, economic fairness, climate investments, and so
much more.

But I've also been taking time to read books that inspire me to keep
moving forward, not just in one election cycle but over the long haul.
Because let's face it: The work of creating a democracy that truly
functions for all of us is never over, and the threats to this fragile
system are increasingly under attack these days.

There is one book in particular that has given me hope and inspiration,
and I want to share it with you: [ [link removed] ]"How We Win the Civil War," by Steve
Phillips, a brilliant thinker and organizer, award-winning writer, and
good friend and collaborator. It's inspiring to read about the progress we
have made as a country against our long history of white supremacy, and
how much of that is thanks to the work of regular people, like you and me,
resisting the worst impulses and most oppressive structures in our nation
and advancing an alternative vision for the world grounded in love and
mutuality.

And it's a reminder—even while we see the forces of white supremacy and
intolerance rapidly being normalized in the mainstream of the Republican
Party itself today—that we are ever powerful when we come together and we
keep marching forward.

That's why I am excited to invite you to join me for a conversation on
Wednesday with Steve and Senator Cory Booker, a longtime MoveOn ally. I'll
be moderating the discussion on "How We Win" and hope you'll join us.

[ [link removed] ]Just RSVP now to join the conversation on Wednesday, October 19 at 6
p.m. ET (5 CT/4 MT/3 PT).

Part get-out-the-vote rally and part book talk, this conversation will
focus on building and mobilizing majority support for a justice agenda—in
the face of white supremacist attacks on our democracy and our values.  As
Steve's book highlights, the Confederates never stopped fighting after the
Civil War—which is at play in the restrictions on our democracy and white
racial resentment we confront today.

And as I'll discuss with Steve and Sen. Booker, there are real political
prescriptions to these ailments—baked into our plan to win in 2022 and
critical for the fights that will continue beyond this November.

I know you're already joining me in showing up for this election—and I
hope you'll join me for this conversation, as I moderate this national
town hall with Steve Phillips and Sen. Booker.

[ [link removed] ]You can RSVP now to join us on Wednesday.

Thanks for all you do.

—Rahna

for "How We Win the Civil War."

P.P.S. A good conversation goes hand in hand with critical voter outreach.
If you haven't yet done so, be sure to [ [link removed] ]sign up for phonebanks to call
key voters and help them make their plans to vote.

Want to support MoveOn's work? Donald Trump's preparations for being able
to steal the presidency in 2024 are well underway and include working to
replace top election officials in battleground states with his own
loyalists. Which is why MoveOn is doing something we've never done in our
24-year history: We're launching a powerful, multimillion-dollar effort to
defeat Trump-backed secretaries of state across the country and elect
individuals who will count every vote and ensure fair elections.

[ [link removed] ]Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month.

[ [link removed] ]No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
