Hi John.

I was raised by a single mom. I worked my way through college while juggling multiple jobs. I know what it means to struggle while Washington seems out of touch.

That’s why I’m committed to building an economy that works better for everyone, not just those at the very top. A key part of that is making a fairer tax code.

That’s why I’ve voted for laws that cut taxes for hardworking Kansans in the middle- and working-class. My team and I have also worked relentlessly to cut through bureaucracy at the IRS to help get Kansans their backlogged tax refunds. In fact, we’ve now helped local taxpayers recover more than $11 million – including $7.6 million owed to them by the IRS.

At a time of rising prices, I know the last thing Kansas families need are higher taxes. That’s why I’ve voted to cut taxes for hardworking Kansans. Feel free to share this graphic on Facebook and join the conversation.

I was glad to vote for a law that cuts taxes for people who buy their own health insurance. And recently, I voted for a law that secures this tax break for another three years – providing certainty and peace of mind to Kansas taxpayers.

Under the expanded Premium Tax Credit, the average household in our district can save up to $3,800 a year on their health insurance premiums.

In addition, I stood up to Big Pharma by voting for the law that finally lets Medicare negotiate for lower prescription drug prices.

You should never have to pay more than three times what people in other nations pay for their medicines while big drug companies make huge profits.

I was also glad to vote to cut taxes for middle- and working-class families with children by expanding the Child Tax Credit in 2021. This tax cut meant thousands of more dollars in tax relief for families throughout the Kansas Third District last year.

My mom is retired after serving in the Army and the Postal Service. Like so many Kansas seniors, she’s now living on a fixed income. I worry about how rising prices impact people like her. No one should have their budget squeezed even more.

That’s why I’ve voted to cut taxes for hardworking people and will continue to push for meaningful and concrete tax relief.

The Child Tax Credit made a difference for families throughout the Kansas Third District. I’m committed to building an economy that works better for everyone, not just those at the top.

I’m serving in the U.S. House of Representatives to bring a new generation of leadership to Washington. I’ll always work with anyone, in either party, who has a good idea that can help Kansas.

Whether we agree on every issue or not is beside the point. Everyone deserves a government that works for them – not just for special interests, big corporations, or the extremes of either party.

If you need any resources, including to find cheaper gas prices or to get help with health care, housing, groceries, and much more, please visit our website at davids.house.gov/lowercosts.

It is an incredible honor to serve you and your family in the U.S. House of Representatives. Contact me if you have any questions or if you would like to share your views, and feel free to forward this message to anyone you know.

My warmest regards,
