Q Chat Space Continues to Help LGBTQ+ Teens Thrive

Q Chat Space, a program of PFLAG National, Planned Parenthood, and CenterLink, provides online discussion groups for LGBTQ+ and questioning teens ages 13 to 19. It is not a forum. It is live and chat based; there is no video or audio. Everyone is chatting during the same pre-scheduled time.

Conversations are facilitated by experienced staff who work at LGBTQ+ centers around the United States.(Please note: Q Chat Space facilitators are NOT mental health professionals. If you are in crisis or need help immediately, please use the resources available at pflag.org/hotlines.)

We are so proud of this program and the safe access it offers. Visit qchatspace.org to learn more!

Three Steps to Being a Better Trans Ally

International Pronouns Day offers a great opportunity to dig into ways to be a better ally to trans people, including nonbinary people!

  1. Learn: Learn about International Pronouns Day, and then check out straightforequality.org/trans to help you learn more about what you can do to be a better ally to trans and nonbinary folks.
  2. Watch: Watch PFLAG Academy Online sessions like Supporting Trans and Nonbinary Loved Ones: What Would You Do? and What The +?: Understanding and Supporting Expansive LGBTQ+ Identities
  3. Share: Helping others learn more about pronouns is a great way to be a better ally to everyone in the LGBTQ+ community, including our trans and nonbinary loved ones. Share the PFLAG National Glossary, which has helpful terminology for everyone, and share resources like the ones above!

Something to Talk About Live!

Non-Binary Students Feel Left Behind at School

International Pronouns Day “seeks to make respecting, sharing, and educating about personal pronouns commonplace” and is a meaningful opportunity to discuss the experiences of non-binary young people and what research has shown us about their mental health.

Join us this Thursday, October 20 at 4:30 PM ET / 1:30 PM PT for Something to Talk About Live! where we will discuss "At a Bucks County queer prom, no royalty, wear what you feel best in, and ‘everybody belongs'" by Oona Goodin-Smith, which appeared in The Philadelphia Inquirer. We're excited to welcome Marte Aboagye, Head of Community Engagement at the Springtide Research Institute, as our guest.

As always, you can find us on Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
