Dear John,

Visiting with farmers during harvest season

Image

Great to be out at Bobby Meils’ farm in Marshall County this past week for harvest! Illinois is home to some of the world's richest farmland, and IL18 farmers are working hard this harvest. Thanks to Bobby and all our farmers who continue to feed and fuel our country. On the Ways and Means Committee, I will continue to be an advocate for our farmers and support trade policies that keep agriculuture competitive in the global economy.

Discussing the future of the US-China relationship

Image

I joined POLITICO’s China Watcher author Phelim Kine, Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR), and Susan Shirk, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, for a panel about the future of U.S.-China relations, which focused on trade and economics, Taiwan, and human rights. China continues to abide by a different set of rules and standards, and the U.S. must do more to strenghten our global competitiveness.

Watch our discussion here.

It’s time for a new direction, away from Democrats’ failed economic agenda.
