Christian Heritage Week

America's Christian Heritage Week commemorates the rich Christian heritage of America. For more than four centuries, the teachings of the Bible and Christianity, and the influence of historic Christian leaders, have had a dramatic positive impact on the nation, its culture, and its institutions. America's Christian Heritage Week celebrates these accomplishments, and many officials often make it part of Thanksgiving week on the calendar.

While hundreds of official proclamations declaring Christian Heritage Week have been issued over the years, this proclamation has to be requested every year. Each year's proclamation provides an opportunity for citizens to highlight to the entire community, state, and nation the many positive contributions of Christian faith throughout America's rich history.

We're asking our supporters to help get Christian Heritage Week declared in your area for the week before, during, or after Thanksgiving. So here's what you can do!

Send a letter to your Governor
[link removed] , your state legislators
[link removed] , your mayor (google "[name of your city] contact mayor"), and local school board, asking each of them for a proclamation to recognize Christian Heritage Week, just as so many dozens of other weeks are commemorated throughout each year. Here's a sample letter
[link removed] you can send, or simply point your officials to the website for hundreds of previous proclamations
[link removed] .

Once an official has issued a proclamation, contact local churches, schools, and civic organizations to let them know about that declaration. You can also point others to five historical lessons on our website
[link removed] which they can use to learn about and teach about the significance of that important week. And let them know about our book The American Story: The Beginnings
[link removed] which gives a more in-depth look at our Christian heritage.

[email protected] and include a copy or picture of the official proclamation so that we can add it to the website. (In the last several decades, over 700 proclamations have been issued. That number needs to continue to grow each year as we remind all Americans, and teach the rising generation, about the positive influence of the Bible and Christianity in shaping America.)

Let's continue to share the importance of America's Christian Heritage and make sure future generations are aware of our rich spiritual heritage under God! Be sure to contact your officials and ask them to declare a Christian Heritage Week.
