Dear Friend,
This is a critical moment for our movement.
Thanks to advocates like you, support for decriminalizing drugs is at an all-time high. Two-thirds of Americans now support getting rid of criminal penalties for drug possession and replacing them with a new public health approach that addresses the root cause of problematic drug use and community hardships like poverty, nutrition, and insufficient education.
And we’re finally seeing this shift in public opinion reflected in drug policy reforms at every level of government—from Measure 110, which made Oregon the first U.S. state to decriminalize drugs, to the introduction of a historic bill in the U.S. Senate that would decriminalize marijuana.
But now so much of our work is at risk. Powerful politicians and media pundits are using fear to create a backlash against hard-won drug policy and criminal legal reforms.
Friend, there are too many lives at stake to go backward now.
Please help us keep moving forward by making a special gift to the Drug Policy Alliance today.

People like you power our work. Together, we are turning public opinion against the awful effects of the drug war. We have helped millions of people by expanding access to health services for those who use drugs and limiting the criminal legal system’s ability to arrest, incarcerate, and punish.
Today, we are working on proven alternatives to the war on drugs that are grounded in science, health, compassion, equity, and human rights. And we are working to defend the dignity of our communities from media stories that demonize people experiencing poverty, homelessness, mental health crises, and addiction.
But despite our progress, we are not done. Your special gift today will help us do even more to make a real difference in the lives of people who use drugs.

Drug possession remains the most arrested offense in this country, and enforcement continues to unfairly target Black, Latinx, and Indigenous communities.
Friend, we have to choose.
Do we continue to fight toward ending the drug war and build a just society in which people are no longer punished for what they put into their own bodies? Or do we do nothing and allow a return to the destructive drug policies that fuel mass incarceration and racial injustice?
I choose to fight!
If you do too, please donate today. Every dollar counts.
