Caught red-handed: Remember when President Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas claimed that mounted Border Patrol agents “whipped” illegal aliens? Thanks to Heritage’s Oversight Project, we now have proof that Mayorkas and other officials knew it was a lie.

• The Oversight Project filed suit against the DHS for documents about the allegation, and those documents showed that a top DHS public affairs official had told Mayorkas that no whipping ever occurred—hours before he went to the White House press briefing to spread that lie.

• Fox News featured Mayorkas’ exposure as one of its lead stories.

A governor goes on offense: Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt came out swinging against environmental, social, and governance standards—dubbed “ESG”—on Fox News last week. 

• Stitt argued that ESG is “rewriting how you invest” to focus on a political agenda rather than value for shareholders.

Our take: “ESG is the Left’s (and its corporate enablers’) blatant mugging of our free-market economy,” writes Anthony Kim, research fellow in economic freedom and editor of the Index of Economic Freedom.

New inflation data: President Biden described September’s 8.2% inflation as “progress.” But the actions of Congress and the Federal Reserve are adding pain to working Americans’ pocketbooks. It gets worse when looking at year-over-year hikes in consumer staples: 

• eggs up 30.5%,
• chicken up 17.2% 
• flour up 24.2% 
• milk up 15.6% 

The main culprits: EJ Antoni, a research fellow with Heritage’s Center for Data Analysis, points out that “The constant spending and borrowing in Washington mean that the Fed needs to raise rates higher and faster to get inflation under control.”

What: The documentary tells the story of high school girls in Vermont who bravely pushed back after feeling uncomfortable with a transgender-identifying male student being in their locker room while they were changing.

 

Wow: Even as school officials accuse dissenters of hatred and bigotry, these girls are not backing down.
