Public service is in my blood. I was the youngest person to sit on the Fairbanks City Council, I served in the Alaska State House of Representatives for 8 years, and here in the State Senate since 2018.
I am passionate about Alaska, and hope for the opportunity to continue to support my neighbors in the following areas:
Putting our People First
Quality education should be a given, and it’s one of my foremost priorities to ensure all Alaskans can expect nothing less. It is our responsibility to invest in early education from pre-k on. We have a right to foster a strong and vibrant economy where everyone can live and raise a family.
Local Tax Relief
I have consistently fought to lower property taxes for Fairbanksans. This year I passed an amendment to save homeowners hundreds of dollars on property taxes, and secured millions of dollars in revenue sharing to lower local taxes.
Jobs for Military Families
Almost half of the people in the Interior are employed by the military, or the federal, state, and local government. Military families have come far and wide to make Alaska their home and I am a champion for those vets and families as a member of the Armed Services Committee. Last year I passed a bill to make it easier for spouses to get the occupational licenses needed to work in their fields. I am honored to fight for what these families have earned.
Prioritizing Public Safety
Since being elected to the Senate 4 years ago, crime has been on the decline. Alaskans deserve to feel safe inside their homes and out. I have increased the amount of public safety officers, and will continue to work hard in securing essential funding and establishing appropriate resources where they are needed most.
Protecting the Permanent Fund
Cutting the PFD hurts all Alaskans, hitting hardest those who need it most. This year, I secured the largest PFD since 2008. I voted for inflation proofing of the Permanent Fund and will continue to fight adamantly to preserve it for future generations.
