Check out the latest from NYGOP Volume 75 | October 17th, 2022 This Week at the NYGOP Follow Us On Social Media! Dear Friend, ZELMENTUM! Our GOP nominee for governor Lee Zeldin continues to close ranks on Hochul and Real Clear Politics just changed their rating on the NY Governor's race to "TOSS UP!" This is huge news. We have just over 3 weeks until Election Day and Republicans are surging, but we have to keep the momentum going strong. New Yorkers are completely fed up with the failed policies brought to them by one-Party Democrat rule in Washington and New York. Our Republican message of restoring safety to our communities, putting more money back in New Yorkers' wallets, and cleaning up Albany's corruption. New Yorkers from all political persuasions are ready for change, but the Democrat establishment is doing everything they can to cling to power. They can't fathom that even in "blue" New York they are staring down a growing red wave. That's why we are asking all our supporters to dig just a little deeper to help us across the finish line. Please volunteer whatever free time you have to help our candidates and consider chipping in to our cause. Democrats have unlimited millions from their special interests, but we are counting on you--every day New Yorkers who care about your state--to help us WIN. Please click here to chip in anything you can. On a personal note, Erin and I are so blessed to announce the arrival of our newborn son, Oliver Theodore Langworthy. He was born Wednesday morning at 6:59 am at 6 lbs 4 ozs and 18.5 inches long. Despite arriving four weeks early, he is doing wonderfully and we are so grateful to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Oishei Children's Hospital of Buffalo for their exceptional care. Madeline is thrilled to be a big sister and Oliver says he is excited to hit the campaign trail with Daddy! Erin and I are so thankful for all your well wishes for our family. This is the reason we are fighting to Save our State. I refused to sit by while our friends, family, and neighbors continue to leave New York for better opportunities and quality of life elsewhere. We owe it to our children and grandchildren to stop the policies that are destroying our beloved state and put it back on the right path. I believe if we continue to work tirelessly every day from now until November 8th, we will be celebrating a new era for New York. Thank you for your commitment to our cause--together we will ensure the Empire State returns to glory. Sincerely, Nick Langworthy NYGOP Chairman   Real Clear Politics Has a New Rating for NY's Governor Race: 🚨TOSS UP!🚨 DONATE TO VICTORY HERE! My passion for giving back, especially to the community that I have called home for over two decades, is what fuels me. And just as I’ve done in every aspect of my life, I’m prepared to roll up my sleeves to earn your trust and support. That starts with listening to you. Far-left politicians and the liberal elites in Albany have built a legacy and a career on letting us down. They’re too busy focusing on liberal policies and have lost touch with what really matters here in Central New York: our safety, our kids, our community, and a long-term vision for the region. What’s right for all of us? My priority is to listen first, build consensus, and lift people and their ideas up. When we have that kind of unity in public service, anything is possible.   NYGOP Must See News: Close call: Hochul’s lead over Zeldin shrinks in NY gov race, indy poll finds New York Post A new independent poll suggests the race for governor in New York is tightening — with Democratic incumbent Kathy Hochul holding a narrow, 6-point lead over her Republican challenger, Rep. Lee Zeldin. The survey, conducted by Schoen Cooperman Research, shows Hochul with 50% support from likely voters to 44% for Zeldin, the Long Island congressman. “It’s a very competitive race,” said Schoen, who has served as a pollster for former President Bill Clinton and three-term ex-Mayor Mike Bloomberg. The remaining 6 percent of voters are still undecided ahead of the Nov. 8 election, with early voting beginning on Oct. 29. Schoen said undecided voters “mostly break” away from the incumbent during a midterm election when the sitting president, in this instance Democrat Joe Biden, is unpopular. Read Full Here In Fight for Congress, a Surprising Battleground Emerges: New York New York Times Just a month before November’s critical midterm elections, New York has emerged from a haywire redistricting cycle as perhaps the most consequential congressional battleground in the country, and Democrats are mired in an increasingly costly fight just to hold their ground. All told, nine of New York’s 26 seats — from the tip of Long Island to the banks of the Hudson River here in Poughkeepsie — are in play, more than any state but California. For Democrats, the uncertainty is particularly jarring: Just 10 months ago, party leaders, who controlled the once-in-a-decade redistricting process in the state, optimistically predicted that new district lines could safeguard Democrats and imperil as many as five Republican seats, allowing them to add key blocks to their national firewall. Now, even Representative Sean Patrick Maloney, who once hoped New York would ease his burden as chairman of the House Democrats’ campaign arm, is facing a viable challenge, with internal polls from both parties showing a dead heat in a suburban area President Biden won by 10 points. Read Full Here Gov. Hochul accused of tax rebate ‘gimmick’ in tight race with Zeldin as election nears New York Post Nearly 2 million New York voters are getting tax relief from the state government led by Gov. Kathy Hochul — just as polls show her race tightening against Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin ahead of the looming Nov. 8 election. The first batch of tax refunds for New Yorkers, who claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit or Child Credit on their 2021 state returns — first revealed by the Times Union on Wednesday — were sent last Friday with roughly 1.8 million people receiving an average of $270 each, according to the state Department of Taxation and Finance. Her political rivals say the move is just the latest instance of Hochul, who has denied numerous allegations of play-to-play schemes involving campaign donors, leveraging the powers of incumbency in her bid for a full term in office. “This is everything that’s wrong with New York in a nutshell,” GOP state Chair Nick Langworthy told The Post about the timing of the rebate checks. “Kathy Hochul and the Democrats raid your paychecks, then give you a few crumbs back and expect you to be grateful.” Read Full Here Bail statutes become focus in Erie County murder Times Union Two days before Keaira Bennefield was shot to death in a car last week in front of her three children, her estranged husband, Adam, had been arraigned on six misdemeanor charges for a violent Sept. 28 domestic incident in which his wife later told police she had video of him beating her. Despite the domestic violence allegations, a Cheektowaga town justice released Bennefield on his own recognizance, with an order of protection prohibiting him from having contact with his wife. "This is a really serious, horrific failure of the bail reform laws," state GOP Chairman Nick Langworthy said during a Friday news. "This is chilling to the bone. This should had never happened — but for the changes in our criminal justice system in 2019, it would not have happened." Gubernatorial candidate and U.S. Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-Long Island, also blamed the slaying on "cashless bail." Gov. Kathy Hochul "won't give judges discretion to weigh dangerousness so now these three kids no longer have their mom." Hochul has defended the state's bail laws and the changes the Legislature implemented this year, but she has spoken out about improving support for survivors of domestic violence. Read Full Here Inflation surged more than expected in September as prices remain stubbornly high Fox Business Inflation ran hotter than expected in September as persistent prices continued to squeeze U.S. households and worsen a political headache for President Biden with just one month until midterm elections. The Labor Department said Thursday that the consumer price index, a broad measure of the price for everyday goods including gasoline, groceries and rents, rose 0.4% in September from the previous month. Prices climbed 8.2% on an annual basis. Those figures were both higher than the 8.1% headline figure and 0.2% monthly increase forecast by Refinitiv economists, a worrisome sign for the Federal Reserve as it seeks to cool price gains and tame consumer demand with an aggressive interest rate hike campaign.
