John, I have good news and bad news.
First, the good news: After we reached out to our supporters last week, together, we were able to raise an astonishing $6,952 for downballot Muslim Democrats in Georgia.
Now, the bad news: One of our endorsed candidates, Ruwa Romman, is being attacked by her Republican opponent, who is sending out mailers filled with Islamophobic rhetoric calling her a terrorist.
John, we’re going to raise $5,378 by midnight to make these hate-filled attacks BACKFIRE and help us fight back. Will you join us and rush a split donation between Ruwa’s campaign and Brighter Future PAC now? >>
I had to deal with the same kind of hateful rhetoric when I ran for office, and it is something that Muslim candidates like Ruwa and me face on a daily basis.
Every Islamophobic comment, every threat, and every question raised about whether I "belong" makes me more determined to fight for and serve our immigrant communities. This is why we need to elect diverse candidates up and down the ballot.
But I’ll be honest: this kind of hateful rhetoric is hard to overcome. I need to raise $5,378 to help Ruwa reach voters and make sure they know what she is fighting for.
We’re not going to let these attacks stop us from electing more diverse, progressive Democrats in the South. Please, John, will you stand with Ruwa and our movement by rushing a donation of any amount now? >>
Thank you,
Nida Allam
