John,
2019 was a banner year.
We
provided every member of the U.S. Congress a trans flag for Trans Day of
Visibility—and many hung them at the entrance to their offices. We helped
change at least 15 state policies removing barriers for trans people changing
their ID documents or accessing healthcare. We mobilized thousands of trans
people and our allies to speak out against anti-trans actions with protests,
rallies, and formal public comments. We launched Transform the Whitehouse
interviewing nearly every single major Presidential candidate about their
stance on the rights of trans people. And so much more.
But we cannot— and will not—stop here. We’re looking to 2020 to be a year of growth, happiness, and equality for the trans community. It won’t be easy, and we will need your help. The
National Center for Transgender Equality Action Fund has big plans for 2020. We
will execute our largest Get Out the Vote (GOTV) plan to date, with resources
like video messages and “know your rights” tools to help ensure trans people
can cast their vote on Election Day. We will field the next U.S. Transgender
Survey—providing data on the lives and experiences of trans people. We will
mobilize advocates to speak up for transgender people and work towards bold,
progressive change in federal and state policies and legislation.
