2020 is just days away, and with it comes the start of a new decade. It has me thinking about our important work together over the last four years, and our goals for the year to come.
Four years ago in 2015, Canadians elected Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team to deliver real change. I was our Party President at the time, and I can tell you that even after the years of hard work that led into the 2015 election, we knew that we had to get straight to work for Canadians, and importantly, on building our movement for the next campaign.
In 2016, we opened up our party in unprecedented ways – including making it free to join – and more than 250,000 Canadians have since signed up as registered Liberals. On the road to Election Day 2019, we also saw this movement supported by more than 2 million individual donations and more than 21 million knocks and calls.
Thanks to your hope and hard work, our 2019 campaign earned our Liberal team the opportunity to continue building a better future for all Canadians – and it shows the importance of starting early, friend.
You’ve made our progress possible, but we also know that without strong grassroots fundraising support, political parties can talk – but not act.
