John,
I just want to remind you that our anonymous patron’s matching-gift offer is still in effect.
When you join The Trust for Public Land today, your membership gift will be matched dollar for dollar.
We’re grateful for all you do as a supporter of The Trust for Public Land, but I suspect this is an opportunity you wouldn’t want to miss as a dedicated public land advocate. Your membership gift will be doubled, so it will do twice as much to:
Help our Federal Affairs team in D.C. defend public lands. From advocating for full funding of the Land and Water Conservation Fund to protecting the Antiquities Act to making sure that no more national monuments are chopped to pieces the way Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante were, our team is working tirelessly to protect the land that belongs to all of us.
Ensure that every American has a park or open space within a 10-minute walk of home. Study after study has shown that parks are critical to the physical, social, environmental, and economic health of a community. So far, 78 mayors have endorsed the 10-minute walk campaign for their cities. Even so, 100 million Americans don’t yet have a close-to-home park. We’re going to change that.
Convert bleak, bare schoolyards into vibrant centers of the community. Tens of thousands of urban acres are owned by public school districts, but all too often, schoolyards look more like parking lots than playgrounds. We’re working with students, administrators, local residents, and other stakeholders to turn these underused spaces into green areas that serve as living hubs of neighborhood activities.
Protect cities from climate change. The unprecedented wildfires in California, as well as deadly heat waves, prolonged drought, and destructive hurricanes all across the country, highlight the urgent need to protect people from the impacts of climate change. Our Climate-Smart Cities™ initiative is helping cities make their communities more equitable, livable, and resilient to the effects of climate change.
This exceptionally generous offer will end on December 31, so please act now. Make your tax-deductible membership gift to The Trust for Public Land today and let our anonymous patron double it.
Sincerely,
Kim Elliot
