Team, I have to admit I started writing this email pretty late at night — because this close to the election, the incredibly high stakes of this race are always on my mind.

I always knew this campaign wouldn’t be easy. I knew that Republicans would try hard to defeat me — because they know the path to retaking Congress runs through this district. And I knew that I’d face ugly attacks tearing me apart for who I am and what I stand for.

So I’m pretty damn proud of how far we’ve come. With less than four weeks to go, we’ve built an incredible grassroots team, we’ve reached out to voters all across this district, and we’ve got a real shot of winning.

But I’m also a realist, and I see the warning signs right now. The attacks against me are heating up at the same time that my online fundraising is slowing down.

If the polls are right, it means we’re only up two points and can’t afford to take my foot off the gas. If the polls are wrong (and I always campaign like the polls are wrong), it means we’re behind and need to fight day and night to catch up over the final weeks of the campaign.
