John,
In a moment, I’m going to explain to you why I’m running to become the next governor of Georgia.
But first, I need your help. John, In less than 2 days, I will step on the stage to debate Brian Kemp for the first time since 2018. My team set an ambitious goal to raise $500,000 before then to spread my vision for One Georgia.
Throughout my career in public service, I’ve had the opportunity to talk with Georgians from all walks of life. While I've enjoyed interacting with and meeting everyone, one family left a lasting impression on me.
I first met Valerie and her two children in 2018 while I visited their home in a low-income community that politicians rarely visit. She beamed with pride as she told me both her children are headed to college in the fall.
While they all acknowledged the challenges it would take for her son and daughter to pursue their respective careers in criminology and education, they were willing to sacrifice everything so they could to get a shot at a better life.
When I asked her what a politician like me could do to make their lives better, she responded that she just wants better financial aid options for her children so they stay in school even in times of economic hardship.
Most Georgia families like Valerie and her children are doing everything right. They are working hard to create a better future for themselves — and yet they are still just one bad turn away from having to drop out of school or give up on their dreams. And the truth is Brian Kemp’s cruel agenda has made it harder for these families to survive — much less thrive.
I’m running to create One Georgia with a singular belief that everyone is entitled to opportunity.
Because right now in Georgia, under Brian Kemp, rent is sky high, inflation has destabilized our economy, and the price of groceries is increasingly out of reach. And instead of trying to fix these issues, we have a governor who is focused on political stunts.
As governor, I will wake up every morning with your family, your hopes, your challenges in mind. And I will fight every day to bring education, health care, housing and a good living to Georgians in every corner of this state.
Let's get it done,
Stacey
